Emirates Cup: Arsenal take on Lyon while Wolfsburg play Villarreal

The annual and glitzy Emirates Cup takes centre stage once again with the Emirates Stadium playing host to Lyon, Wolfsburg and Villarreal, so we preview the first two games of the tournament.

Arsenal v Lyon
The Gunners are odds-on at 4/7 with Coral to beat the French outfit, and it is a chance for Arsenal supporters to see new signing Petr Cech in action. As a result of this, they are 7/5 to keep a clean sheet.

It will also give manager Arsene Wenger a chance to run the rule over Lyon attacker Alexandre Lacazette, with the club said to be in the market for a frontman and the prolific Frenchman linked to a number of clubs around Europe this summer, including the Gunners.

Lacazzete is decent value at 7/4 to score anytime and it could be a big test for the Arsenal rearguard to keep him in check, while his presence in the starting line-up is likely to be a true baptism of fire for debutant Cech.

For Arsenal, Alexis Sanchez will miss the match, due to his commitments with Chile over the summer at the Copa America, so Olivier Giroud or Theo Walcott are to be given the chance to prove that Wenger doesn’t need to enter the market for a striker. They are both 7/2 to open the scoring and notched in the club’s last match of the season which was the 4-0 FA Cup final win over Aston Villa.

Wolfsburg v Villarreal
While Villarreal lost top striker Luciano Vietto to Atletico Madrid this summer, Diego Simeone’s side loaned them promising frontman Leo Baptistao, who, in time can follow the same path as Diego Costa. The Brazilian striker is good value at 7/4 to notch anytime, while his attack partner Gerard Moreno is 6/4 in the same market.

The German outfit meanwhile, who are evens to win, have the makings of a championship winning side if they can keep hold of their top players. Kevin De Bruyne who is being linked to Manchester City, is an assist machine, though also chips in with goals. As such, he is 7/4 in the anytime market and is likely to be watched closely by a number of Europe’s top managers.

Lethal Dutch frontman Bas Dost is 5/1 to break the deadlock and can cause the Yellow Submarines no end of problems with his physical presence.

Coral recommended bet: Lacazette anytime scorer @ 7/4
