Doncaster tips for Friday: Mirage Dancer ready to launch

Doncaster tips for Friday.

Ryan Moore aims to get his exciting debutant off on the winning foot

The weekend’s sporting action gets off to an entertaining start with Doncaster’s eight-race card getting underway at 1.30 and Mirage Dancer rates as the best bet at the South Yorkshire track.

Going to post at 3.10 for the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes, a class 5 race disputed over the 7f trip, Sir Michael Stoute’s two-year-old debutant seems to have everything going for him as handlers aim to get off to a winning start.

Being a product of the record-breaking Frankel means Mirage Dancer is sure to cause a flutter in the parade ring before the off, as punters look to find the next big thing in British racing. The potential protege will be well looked after as he gets a feel for his career when guided around Doncaster by three-time Champion Jockey Ryan Moore.

A real eye-catcher of a horse, with his powerful physique, he may take a furlong or two to get into this contest if reports from the gallops are to be believed, but his breeding will ensure he has the turn of foot needed at the business end of the contest.

Punters can take plenty of confidence from the fact half-brother Forge won over course and distance earlier this year and has been seen doing nothing but improve since.

Al Neksh expected to enhance his winning form in Doncaster tips for Friday

Later in the day, Al Neksh looks worth keeping on side in the penultimate race, a 1m 2f handicap due off at 4.55.

William Haggas and Frankie Dettori join forces with this three-year-old gelding who already boasts an impressive CV of three wins and a place from five career starts. That form includes a win over today’s trip at Yarmouth on his most recent start last month, edging past Great Hall after going off as the most likely winner in the betting.

The margin of victory was little over a length on that occasion, but the fact he was seen to be running on at the close goes some way to offering confidence to punters. And, if he can continue the progression shown to date, he’s more than capable of getting his head in front again here.

Roger Varian’s Absolute Zero was back in third that day and, although he led in the early part of that race, there was nothing about the finish to suggest he could exact revenge here.

Big things are expected of Al Neksh in the future and with Dettori, who has been in the saddle for two of his three wins, arriving in fine form, as well as the training boasting great stats with horses running over this trip, it would take a brave man to oppose him.
