Djokovic faces Federer yet again in US Open men’s singles final

Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer face-off in a Grand Slam final for the fourth time at the US Open, and the Serbian holds a 2-1 advantage over the Swiss sensation.
Coral thus once again side with the ATP world number one, making him a narrow odds-on 8/11 favourite to take a second Flushing Meadows title.
Although deadly Djokovic is fancied for a 10th Grand Slam title, New York has not been a happy hunting ground for him, winning just one of five finals in ‘the Big Apple’.
Federer thus appeals at 11/10, not least because he leads hard court clashes from this season against the Serb 2-1. Knocking French Open champ and compatriot Stan Wawrinka out to set up yet another date with Djokovic, he ensured there would be a repeat of the Wimbledon final at Flushing Meadows.
Marin Cilic, a surprise winner of this Grand Slam last year, fell by the wayside in the other semi as Djokovic dominated.
Federer has been flawless at this year’s US Open and is yet to drop a set, though it’s a huge ask at 9/2 for him to defeat Djokovic, who remains rated the best in the world, without a mistake.
Coming to the net earlier in points as he gets older is a rather predictable tactic from Federer, and one that Djokovic got wise to in their Wimbledon meeting earlier this year.
The Serb dropping second sets to Roberto Bautista Agut and Feliciano Lopez in the last 16 and quarter-finals is slight cause for concern. All-time Grand Slam great Federer is thus 10/11 to take the second set, just as he did at Wimbledon, and make this match very interesting.
Since 2010, it’s only been the odd encounter at these majors which hasn’t turned into a classic, and another four-set affair looks more than plausible.
