Desert Queen a Sunday treat

We flick through the best of Sunday

Sunday’s UK and Irish horse racing schedule is made up of meetings at Huntingdon, Sedgefield and Leopardstown. You can bet on all of the action right here at Coral – click now to have your say!

We’ve made digging out the winners that bit easier, with our NAP and next best on the card at Huntingdon, and if you scroll to the bottom of this page you will find a selection in every race, designed to help boost up your Sunday multiples.

An eight-race meeting takes place at the Cambridgeshire course, the day getting underway at 2.00pm with a one-mile seven-furlongs maiden hurdle. We are keeping our powder dry until the 3.30pm test however, where our pick of the lot lines-up in a mares chase, disputed over two-miles three-furlongs.

Desert Queen to defy penalty

Of the seven-runners, Desert Queen looks to be the winner of the race for me. Harry Fry sends his talented eight-year-old to course on the back of an impressive win around Leicester last time out. Doing the business off a decent 4/1 SP, she beat the chasing pack in convincing fashion, with Creswell Breeze coming home 10-lengths behind.

That was her second win in four, a run which also includes a runner-up finish at Warwick, and must concede weight across the board, as a result. She is still very well treated however, on her best form, and has the confidence onside to go in again and pick-up a quick-fire double. Noel Fehily was in the saddle on that occasion, and returns, which rates as a real positive for backers.

Jonjo O’Neill fancies the double

We’ll be hopefully aiming for a double by the time the lucky last goes to post at 5.30pm, where our next best goes in the form of I Know U Too Well. Jonjo O’Neill’s rep is another who is sniffing out a deuce, having won at Ffos Las on debut in December.

The four-year-old gelding edged out Tikkanbar, but he showed bags of bottle to hit the front and grind out the result. He caught the eye that day, looking more experienced than he probably should’ve, and will come on for the win. If we see the kind of progression I am expecting, it should be two in-a-row.
