1.35 – Coppull
Clive Cox has started off well with his two-year-olds this year, and hopefully, this horse can make a smart debut. He is a Bated Breath colt, so he is well-bred. I hope he will be sharp out of the gates, but whatever happens, it is his first day at school.
2.05 – Akkadian Thunder
This horse is making his seasonal reappearance. He was quite consistent last year, winning two races. I don’t think he will want the ground to dry up too much, but he did win on good ground at Doncaster last July. I am sure he will be fit and ready to go.
2.35 – Tarriance
This is a Frankel colt who is making his debut for Andrew Balding and Juddmonte. I should imagine he will stay further than this trip in the future. When you ride horses like this first time out, you don’t want to be too hard on them. He will learn a lot from the experience, and if he settles well, I am sure he is good enough to be in the mix.
3.45 – Coeur Jaune
I’ve not ridden this horse before, but I can see all four of his races so far have come over sprint distances. He is now stepping up to 7f, so perhaps David O’Meara thinks that may find some improvement. This will be his handicap debut off a mark of 69, so it does give him a chance if he can take a step forward.
