David Moyes is the odds-on favourite to replace Gary Rowett as the new Stoke City manager.

Rowett was sacked this morning after less than eight months in charge with the club 14th in the Championship table and eight points adrift of the play-off places.

Ex-Everton and Manchester United boss Moyes is the early frontrunner to succeed Rowett at 10/11.

The Scotsman has been out of work since departing West Ham United in the summer, and is reportedly keen to return to management sometime soon. However, he may face competition for the role.

Slavisa Jokanovic has been chalked up as the 5/1 second-favourite, with Sam Allardyce and Derek McInnes further back at 7/1 apiece. Carlos Carvahal comes next at 8/1, before Martin O’Neill at 9/1.

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said, “David Moyes somewhat repaired his reputation with his spell at West Ham last season and Stoke need somebody to come in and turn things around as quickly as possible. We make Moyes odds-on to be the man given that task.”

“Jokanovic is the next in the betting, whilst club legend Rory Delap is helping with the team until an appointment is made, and is 10/1 to be handed the job on a permanent basis,” added Aitkenhead.
