He’s 7/2 to finish as top scorer

Southampton striker Danny Ings is now second-favourite to win the Premier League Golden Boot this season, according to our traders.

Ings’ brace against Watford took him to 18 league goals for the season. Having started the campaign at 66/1, he’s now just 7/4 to finish as top scorer.

The Saints star is now just one goal behind 7/2 favourite Jamie Vardy.

Mohamed Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang shared the award with Sadio Mane last term. The duo are both at 4/1 on 17 goals.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane started the campaign at the top of the betting at 7/2, but an injury-hampered campaign has seen his odds fall to 20/1.

“Kane was the favourite back in August but an injury hit season looks to have cost him, and it seems to be between the top four now. Vardy leads the charts, and the betting, but Danny Ings is now into 7-2 second favourite and on a serious hot streak,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.

Since 2001, every Premier League golden boot has been won by either a Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea or Tottenham player.

“If Vardy or Ings come out on top the streak of the traditional clubs will be broken, with Kevin Phillips the last winner to not play for City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal or Tottenham,” added Aitkenhead.

To be the top scorer in the Premier League this season

7/4 Vardy, 7/2 Ings, 4/1 Salah, Aubameyang, 11/1 Mane, 16/1 Jiminez, 20/1 Kane, 25/1 Rashford, 66/2 Sterling, 100/1 Jesus
