A £5 wager on tonight’s selections could deliver a shade over £150 if successful
The big freeze is beginning to thaw, and there’s plenty of football to warm the cockles on Tuesday night. As well as two Champions League knockout ties, there’s action from all three tiers of the Football League.
Here are the Coral News Team’s picks on the evening’s football…
Boro head to St Andrew’s on the back of a 10-point haul in their last five games. That’s in stark contrast to hosts Birmingham City, who are managerless and have lost five games on the spin.
Blues have scored just once in that period, conceding 12 times in the process. Add in the fact Middlesbrough breezed to a 2-0 victory in the last meeting, and it’s hard to see past another three points for Tony Pulis’ men.
While visitors Sheffield United are in good form, the Cottagers are almost unstoppable at home. Fulham have now won eight league games on the spin at Craven Cottage, including a 6-0 demolition of Burton Albion.
The Blades are also good on their own patch – but their away form is less stellar. Chris Wilder’s men have lost three of their previous four on the road. Slavisa Jokanovic’s men should have enough to take this one.
The Reds pulled off a five-star victory at FC Porto in the first leg of their Champions League tie. And with a strong home record on their side, Jurgen Klopp’s men should follow that 5-0 up with another resounding victory at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have netted 25 times in their last five UCL games, while their opponents have won just once in five away games in this competition. First leg hat-trick hero Sadio Mane could be the man to watch once again.
Even 12 months ago, the prospect of facing Real Madrid was daunting even for a side of PSG’s quality. But Zinedine Zidane’s side are floundering in La Liga, and lost 1-0 to Espanyol in their last away game.
Les Parisiens have won 19 on the trot at home. That’s included eye-catching victories like a 3-0 rout of Bayern Munich and an 8-0 victory over league rivals Dijon. With Unai Emery’s men needing a two-goal victory to stand a chance, they’re likely to fly out of the blocks.
There’s just one game in League One on Tuesday night, but there’s plenty of importance on it. The Saddlers are trying to keep their faint play-off hopes alive, while bottom club Rochdale are running out of time to save themselves.
Jon Witney’s men have enjoyed some impressive home wins lately, including a 4-2 defeat of Doncaster Rovers. And they’ll be looking for another one against a Dale side who’ve managed a paltry eight points from 17 fixtures on their travels this term.
