Segunda Division and International Friendlies headline
Five teams heading to this summer’s World Cup are involved in tonight’s friendly action.
South Korea, England, Costa Rica, Portugal and Iceland will all continue their preparations for Russia ahead of the tournament’s start next week.
The Coral News Team have picked three of those nations – and taken a look at the Segunda Division – for this evening’s Acca Tips…
Gareth Southgate’s men wrap up their warm-up matches by taking on Costa Rica at Elland Road. The Three Lions boast a strong defensive unit and can edge past a Costa Rica side which has failed to score in three of their last five matches.
England’s record of one defeat in home friendly matches since November 2013 should also give reason for confidence.
Algeria’s last three friendly results have been anything but impressive. The Desert Warriors have suffered defeats against Iran, Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde Islands.
Portugal are the heavy favourites for the match in any case. But with Cristiano Ronaldo back after a rest following the Champions League Final, they should have more than enough quality in Lisbon.
Our traders have this down as a fairly even contest. And it’s easy to see why. Iceland have lost their last three matches, while Ghana are unbeaten in five.
Three of those games have ended in draws for the Black Stars, and we think the form could level out to produce another stalemate in Reykjavik.
The Segunda Division rumbles on in Spain with the promotion play-offs. Real Valladolid have home advantage in the first-leg and can take advantage at Jose Zorilla.
Pucela I Pucelanos have won four of their last matches. Opponents Sporting Gijon have lost four of their last five and are winless in four on the road. The Coral News Team can only see this one going one way.
