Coral ambassador has a busy weekend ahead
I’ve got a busy day on Saturday with a full book of rides at Chelmsford and then off to Lingfield in the evening.
I’m really looking forward to it, it’s great to be involved in a day where all your rides have strong chances and whilst it’s a shame to miss Goodwood it should be a really good day.
I’m then on Bacchus in a Group One on Sunday over in Deauville which should be a great race and one I can’t wait for.
Chelmsford
This is a good ride to pick up for William Haggas, a nice filly by War Command who was second on her only start to date.
It’s not a particularly strong race and the run under her belt should be a massive help so hopefully I can kick off my day with a winner.
I would be disappointed if she didn’t go close.
This is only his third run of the year so far so he is a lightly raced horse who hasn’t got many miles on the clock.
He is top weight but hopefully back on the polytrack he will run well, and the fact that he was won at Chelmsford before gives us confidence that he can go in again here.
This is another one of my rides on Saturday that carries top weight and we’re drawn in stall one.
That should give me a great chance to get out in front over the five furlongs and hopefully we’ll be hard to peg back.
He ran very well last time out when I was on board as Salisbury.
It’s a tight, competitive race where all seven runners have a genuine chance but based on his last run and the fact that we know he stays well means that we should be there or there abouts at the finish.
I was gutted to miss Margub’s last run, I got stuck in traffic and he ran a blinder at Chelmsford to win really well.
It looked very impressive though and he should take all the beating again.
Mutanaqel is a nice big horse and we think that Catterick would have been a bit too hard a track for him last time.
He has some good form from last season, finishing third at Chelmsford in a race that had its form boosted by Communique winning at Goodwood on Thursday.
I would be disappointed if he didn’t run a big race off his mark of 72.
This is his first race for Gary Moore, and has shown some decent form previously. The draw should help us here and we certainly have a chance of being involved at the finish.
I round off my day with New Street in the last at Chelmsford. It’s not the strongest race with some very similar types of horses which gives us a squeak if he can perform to the best of his ability.
Lingfield
This horse won last time out for Ian Williams up at Ayr and his horses are absolutely flying at the moment.
He hadn’t showed much prior to his last run but the potential is certainly there and off a mark of 62 we certainly have a chance.
He’s just had the one run before at Yarmouth where he finished second and we’re hopeful he can get his first win at Lingfield on Saturday night.
He is nicely drawn in eight and over five furlongs that should suit us, especially with the run under his belt. He should be hard to beat.
Sunday
Deauville
2.15 – Bacchus
This is a great race to be involved in, a Group One, and I’m really looking forward to it.
The plan is to fly over with Brian Meehan in the morning, Deauville isn’t the easiest place to get to and flying will certainly be easier to fly than driving like I have in the past.
He has got a chance, without question, and Brian wouldn’t be running him if he didn’t think that he was capable of winning it.
This trip of six and a half furlongs is probably his best trip and hopefully we will run well.
