Dominant England odds-on to win First Test against Sri Lanka
England eight runs behind with eight wickets in hand
After a dominant display with both bat and ball on the opening day of their First Test against Sri Lanka, England are odds-on at 1/6 to win the First Test.
After beginning the day as 11/10 favourites, England moved into an even stronger position after bowling the hosts out in just over 46 overs for 135 runs, with Dom Bess taking five wickets for 30 runs.
Sri Lanka are now 8/1 to win the match, with the draw available at 7/1.
“England’s day couldn’t have gone better and they have taken a huge step to winning the opening Test in Galle. They are as short as 1/6 in the betting to finish the job off,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead
Dinesh Chandimal top scored on the opening day for the hosts with 28, before Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root led England to a total of 127/2 after notching 47 and 66 runs respectively.
After finishing the day on 47, Bairstow is now 2/1 to complete a century on the second day of the Test.
“We make it 2/1 that Bairstow completes a hundred on his return to the Test side, in the country he hit his last Test ton back in 2018,” added Aitkenhead.
