Ahead of the traditional Community Shield curtain-raiser between Arsenal and Chelsea, Coral review five of the most memorable matches in recent years, with the Gunners 15/8 with Coral to win the shield for a consecutive year.

Manchester City 2-3 Manchester United 2011
A baptism of fire for new Red Devils goalkeeper David de Gea as Joleon Lescott was allowed to score with a free header and Edin Dzeko humiliate him from 30-yards out. Consequently, City were 2-0 up at half time, before a thrilling comeback. Chris Smalling latched on the end of a free-kick and Nani bagged a brilliant brace to cap a superb win.

Arsenal 3-0 Manchester City 2014
A complete annihilation from the Gunners against Manuel Pellegrini’s side, the north Londoners were on top from start to finish. Santi Cazorla tucked away the first, before Aaron Ramsey rounded off a superb team goal and Olivier Giroud capped off a fantastic performance with a strike from the top drawer.

Liverpool 3-4 Leeds United 1992
A masterclass from Eric Cantona handed the West Yorkshire side the shield with the Frenchman hitting a hat-trick, while Tony Dorigo scored the other. Ian Rush, Dean Saunders and a Gordon Strachan own goal were responsible for Liverpool’s tally in what was probably one of the most entertaining curtain raisers for of the last three decades.

Manchester United 4-0 Newcastle United 1996
Sir Alex Ferguson’s men ran riot against the FA Cup holders, with Cantona featuring again. After he opened the scoring, three of their golden generation; Nicky Butt, David Beckham and Roy Keane added strikes with United starting the season as they meant to go on.

Manchester City 3-2 Chelsea 2012
An entertaining encounter between two top sides with Yaya Toure, Samir Nasri and Carlos Tevez ensuring City secured victory over the Blues whose goals came courtesy of strikes from Fernando Torres and Ryan Bertrand.
