Coral’s rumour reel: Watford targeting Italy international?

Published:

Premier League new boys Watford (11/4 with Coral to finish bottom) appear to be wasting no time this summer, after already snapping up a new boss for the Vicarage Road bench in Quique Sanchez Flores, and now feature in the thick of today’s transfer rumours.

The freshly promoted Hornets are reportedly ready to splash the cash on a trio of top talents, having apparently been offered a bargain bumper deal for Inter Milan pair Davide Santon and Zdravko Kuzmanovic, who could be captured for as little as £7m.

Watford are also still chasing Tottenham midfielder Paulinho, though Chinese team Guangzhou Evergrand are expected to challenge the Hertfordshire club for the 26-year-old, and may hold the trump card as coach Luiz Felipe Scolari previously managed the Samba Boy when in charge of Brazil.

Meanwhile, Argentina and Benfica attacker Nicolas Gaitan’s agent Jose Irribarran has told Portuguese press that the 27-year-old wingman could arrive at Old Trafford.

“Everything is possible. There’s a negotiation pending with Manchester United. The player wants everything to go as smoothly as possible, We’re waiting for an answer from the vice-president. I can’t really say anything else,” stated the Albiceleste star’s representative.

The Red Devils’ local rivals Manchester City are also supposedly close to completing a deal for 18-year-old Bursaspor forward and Turkey cap Enes Unal, for a mooted fee of around £500,000, though the striker has scored just seven goals in 54 outings for his hometown club.

In other Premier League-related rumours, Alan Pardew and Crystal Palace (5/2 for a top 10 finish) are apparently eyeing Swansea City centre half and captain Ashley Williams, though the defender enjoyed a successful season with the Welsh side, so may prove tough to prise from the Liberty Stadium.

Another summer switch tipped to take place is Stoke City stopper Asmir Begovic to Aston Villa, though the Villans are believed to be reluctant to pay the full £10m release clause for the custodian.

As for gossip with a more continental flavour, Juventus could be set to raid Real Madrid for the second time in as many summers, and for yet another Spanish star, as the Old Lady are rumored to be keen on snaring playmaker Isco should an ambitious move for Chelsea midfielder Oscar fail.
