Coral’s rumour reel: Red Devils to raid Bayern again for Lewandowski?
Published:
Manchester United (now 6/1 with Coral to lift the Premier League) lead the rumour reel this morning, as speculation mounts over which top class striking option will be drafted in to replace Robin van Persie.
Louis van Gaal is believed to have his sights set on landing one of PSG predator Edinson Cavani or Bayern Munich marksman Robert Lewandowski to take the departing Dutchman’s spot up top.
The Red Devils have already prised Bastian Schweinsteiger from the German giants and could now return a second time to recruit prolific Pole Lewandowski, who arrived at the Allianz Arena on a Bosman last summer from rivals Borussia Dortmund, although Bayern are likely to resist another raid.

From red to blue, it could be a case of two in two out at Manchester City as the Etihad outfit await Raheem Sterling’s official arrival and are expected to also finally add attacking Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne to their squad for £40m. Meanwhile, current out-of-favour City frontmen Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic may soon be flogged to Roma and Inter Milan respectively.
In more summer striking switch rumours, Arsenal young-gun Yaya Sango is tipped to exit the Emirates for another loan spell after his temporary stint with Crystal Palace came to an end, with the 22-year-old primed to join Dutch juggernauts Ajax.
Bolstering the Gunners’ backline, meanwhile, could be Napoli and Algeria left back Faouzi Ghoulam, who would set Arsene Wenger back around £7.13m.
Staying in north London, Tottenham’s recruitment drive looks set to continue, with £9m-rated Marseille marksman Michy Batshuayi reportedly on Mauricio Pochettino’s wishlist. The Belgian forward netted nine Ligue 1 strikes last term and could be a cut-price alternative to costly compatriot Christian Benteke.

Should Spurs (6/1 for a top four finish) need to raise any funds, England winger Andros Townsend is a wanted man, with Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Sunderland all jostling for the flank threat’s services.
Crystal Palace are also still in the midst of their impressive shopping spree, with Alan Pardew reportedly tracking QPR keeper Alex McCarthy, who is rumoured to have a relegation release clause of around £3.5m.
Finally, in continental gossip columns, Fluminense starlet Gerson, a highly-rated teenage midfield talent is tipped to arrive at Barcelona after their transfer ban finishes, with the Brazilian’s father telling press: “Gerson will be staying with Fluminense for now and then join Barcelona in January. We appreciate the interest of other teams, because it is a sign that Gerson is doing well, but we have taken our decision.”
