Blues battling for Watford poacher
After seeing Jose Mourinho dismissed from Stamford Bridge for a second time in his career, Chelsea have since showed signs of returning to their Premier League title winning best under Guus Hiddink, but they are in search of a boost to their frontline.
With Radamel Falcao still suffering a severe decline in England and Loic Remy struggling for game time, both stuttering Blues frontmen are expected to depart the capital club, as they line up Hornets hitman Odion Ighalo as a potential arrival.
The 26-year-old has bagged 13 goals in 23 outings for the promoted side this season and ended 2015 with a leading tally of 30 strikes, with Chelsea now closely monitoring the Nigeria international’s current situation.
Ighalo previously declared that he was in no rush to leave his current surroundings, but Watford face a tough task of retaining their star man if the Blues do come calling, despite their previous domestic struggles in the top-flight.
Sturridge to deal Liverpool hammer blow?
Daniel Sturridge has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons this term, with his constant injury setbacks seeing him miss much of Jurgen Klopp’s early reign as Liverpool boss, but he could soon be on the move.
The injury prone England striker is linked with incredibly joining West Ham United this year, following a similar path to that of former Anfield targetman Andy Carroll, as Klopp is reportedly ready to cash in on his frustrating forward.
It’s believed that Slaven Bilic’s east London outfit will offer up to £18m for the misfiring marksman, as Liverpool look for more encouraging attackers to lead their line, with former Manchester United poacher Javier Hernandez being a touted high-profile target.
Villa would Lovre to acquire Kalinic
As Aston Villa continue to their fight to avoid relegation, the rock-bottom club are seeking reinforcements for such a daunting battle, and have lined up Hajduk Split and Croatia international goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic as a possible arrival.
The Croatian shot stopper has also come to the interest of both Leicester City and Villa’s relegation rivals Sunderland, with his current employers having already turned down an offer from Turkish side Besiktas this week.
At 6ft 7in, the towering goal guard could provide Remi Garde’s toothless Villans with a defensive reassurance in their scrap to beat the drop, and such a switch could happen swiftly with the West Midlands club said to already be in talks over a £4.9m deal.
