Coral’s heroes and villains
Another weekend of domestic European football has brought with it numerous thrills and shocks, which means only one thing.
It’s time for our weekly Heroes and Villains, so keep reading to see who made our honour roll and wall of shame on this occasion!
Heroes
Salford City
A superb showing from the club co-owned by the Class of 92 who beat Notts County 2-0 in the FA Cup’s first giant killing of the season.
Co-owner Gary Neville said: “That was unbelievable. It puts faith back into you, it’s what football is about. The FA Cup takes a battering but tonight epitomises what it is all about. I’ve not had a moment like that for a few years.”
Former Manchester United academy graduate Danny Webber bundled in from close range for the opener, before Richie Allen’s excellent effort sealed the victory. Check it out below!

Neymar
Barcelona’s brilliant Brazilian stirred up memories of Paul Gascoigne at Euro ’96 with his sensational strike, lifting it over his marker. Don’t let us spoil it for you though, see for yourself below!

Rob Elliot
Magpies custodian was outstanding as he denied a Bournemouth barrage of shots during Newcastle’s 1-0 win over the Cherries, who could not bear the fruits of their labour. With Tim Krul injured, Elliot can cement himself as first team keeper for the long term, with Newcastle 12/1 with Coral for a top 10 finish.
Villains
Huerelho Gomes
A poor performance from Watford’s keeper in their 2-1 defeat against Leicester City, left the Foxes with the three points, after being at fault for both goals.
Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores defended his player after the match: “Huerelho knows he has out support, it is they style of this team. He feels he is guilty, but the rest of us don’t feel that way. We are really happy with his performance in general”.
David Moyes
Rumour has it that the Scot’s job is on the line following a shock defeat by La Liga relegation candidates Las Palmas after only a year with the announcement said to be imminent. Real Sociedad have just nine points this term.
Fulham
After a 5-2 hammering by Birmingham, the Cottagers board perhaps acted rashly by sacking manager Kit Symons with the club in a good position in the Championship and having only lost two matches in a row.
