Aston Villa v Stoke – Draw
Neither of these Midlands sides have clicked just yet, and although the Potters’ record at Villa Park is very good, Tim Sherwood will want to keep things tight after some recent hard luck.
Bournemouth v Watford – Away win
Injuries to Cherries summer signing Max Gradel and star striker Callum Wilson mean Eddie Howe is missing two key players in attack, so this is the perfect chance for the Hornets to take all three points.
Man City v Newcastle – Home win
The Magpies have more important and winnable matches coming up after the international break, and do not travel well to the Etihad. Put this one down as a home banker.
Norwich v Leicester – Draw
With two teams that take a relatively open approach to football on show at Carrow Road, a high scoring draw appeals as the outcome between the Canaries and Foxes.
Sunderland v West Ham – Away win
Dick Advocaat has a dodgy defence and simply isn’t setting the Black Cats up to protect it. Back a win on the road for Slaven Bilic’s high-flying Hammers.
Derby v Brentford – Home win
Lee Carsley has made it clear he doesn’t want to be Bees boss long-term, and that is the wrong message to send out to players still getting to know one another. The Rams, under fellow novice manager Paul Clement, thus have a real platform to win this one already.
QPR v Bolton – Draw
Charlie Austin’s absence is a huge blow for the Hoops, and they are without backup striking option Jamie Mackie too. Back Neil Lennon’s Wanderers, then, to take a point from Loftus Road back up north with him.
Aberdeen v St Johnstone – Home win
The Dons are going great under Derek McInnes, and that makes the Scottish Premiership title race interesting. With confidence sky high at Pittodrie, the hosts are set to continue their fine form.
Sevilla v Barcelona – Away win
Both of these team played in Europe midweek but, even without Lionel Messi, are in far better form than the Bathtubs, so side with Luis Suarez and Neymar to slay their hosts in Seville.
Chelsea v Southampton – Draw
Saints are value to take a point off the struggling Blues, who cannot string a run together. Pressure is mounting on Jose Mourinho, and relaxed counterpart Ronald Koeman will be content with a draw at Stamford Bridge.
Hamilton v Celtic – Away win
The Bhoys battle to Accies after a tough Europa League examination by Fenerbahce, but should still record a win that keeps the chase on Aberdeen up.
Everton v Liverpool – Draw
Five of the last six Merseyside derbies have resulted in the spoils being shared, so the Toffees and Reds look set to finish with honours even again.
Arsenal v Man Utd – Away win
Arsene Wenger’s men come into this huge game off the back of a disappointing defeat in Europe. The Red Devils go into the weekend top of the Premier League, and against a Gunners defence that leaves a lot to be desired there should be plenty of joy for them.
Swansea v Tottenham – Away win
Expect Spurs’ superb run of seven straight wins against the Swans, who have lost their way a little in recent weeks, to continue.
Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid – Home win
As Atleti won three out of four meetings at the Vicente Calderon with Real last term, Diego Simeone’s side can stick to Rafa Benitez’s boys again in this fiercely fought derby.
