Coral sponsored Racing Post podcast looks ahead to Merseyside derby

In the latest edition of the Racing Post podcast “Postcast”, proudly sponsored by Coral, our very own John Hill joins Bruce Millington, Mike Brear and Mark Langdon to look ahead to the weekend’s best bets, including that of an anticipated Merseyside derby encounter between Premier League duo Everton and Liverpool.

Among the English top-flight, Championship and Champions League discussions raised and analysed within the podcast team, the hot topic was the upcoming Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, where Roberto Martinez’s Toffees will host Brendan Rodgers’ stuttering Reds for another potentially heated clash.

With this derby having seen the most red cards of any Premier League fixture in the modern era, Coral are offering a sensational 9/4 on another sending off occurring between these two ferocious sides in Sunday’s early kick-off.

The “Postcast” panel also looked at whether Arsene Wenger is still the man to lead Arsenal in the near future, with his Gunners having recently suffered further Champions League misery, poor European form which sees them drop to 40/1 to lift that trophy.

Overall, last season’s treble champions Barcelona are still the favourites to keep hold of their European title, despite being dealt a major blow as maestro Lionel Messi was ruled out for two months with a serious knee injury. It seems Real Madrid are one of their closest challengers and 5/1 to claim an incredible 11th competition victory.

As well as this, Wenger’s arch-nemesis Jose Mourinho came under some pressure after recent failings within his Chelsea set-up, having showed worrying signs this season during their title defence. With the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ suffering from the blues this term, his side are 8/1 to somehow retain their domestic crown.

In Sunday’s full-blooded affair between Everton and Liverpool, another draw at Goodison can be had 21/10, after five of the last six have ended as a stalemate while Brendan Rodgers has been in charge. Although, the bet of the weekend comes at 9/4 for a red card to be shown by the referee anytime during the derby encounter.
