Following the success of the recent English Open and Northern Ireland Open, the Home Nations Series continues with the exciting Coral Scottish Open in Glasgow.
The Emirates Arena will be the host venue for this latest event on the snooker calendar, with the draw starting off with the now familiar 128 players and running from December 12th until the 18th.
Those contesting for the £70k winning prize fund are recent UK Championship victor and world number one Mark Selby, home hope John Higgins and, of course, Ronnie O’Sullivan.
So ahead of the opening clashes in Glasgow, Coral outline Coral Scottish Open tips and an awesome acca to back during proceedings.
Hawkins and Bingham in quarter 1
Quarter 1 sees consistent cueist Barry Hawkins lead proceedings as 5/2 favourite to prevail from this side of the draw, while he faces stern competition from former world champion Stuart Bingham, who is 10/3 to triumph.
The Hawk should first easily overcome Hammad Miah, with Bingham contesting Mark Joyce in his opener. Meanwhile, recent Northern Ireland Open winner Mark King will look for further success on Scottish soil and is 8/1 to secure victory in this quarter.
English Open winner Liang Wenbo also stars in this section, making it a tough test for those involved, while home favourite Anthony McGill and Welshman Matthew Stevens also feature.
Robertson leads quarter 2 hopes
Australian potter Neil Robertson takes to quarter 2 as the 5/2 front runner for success, though his recent form hasn’t been encouraging, making Shaun Murphy a more promising punt at 9/2 to prevail from this section.
They’ll both have competition from Marco Fu (11/2), Mark Williams (9/1) and Glaswegian Stephen Maguire (11/1), though, with the former Hong Kong cueist facing Sanderson Lam in his opening encounter.
Trump aiming for quarter 3 success
Bristol break-builder Judd Trump is a 6/4 favourite to emerge from quarter 3 as the victor and looks likely of doing so, with Essex cueman Allister Carter being his biggest threat at 11/2.
Kyren Wilson is another potential danger to the Juddernaught, with the Kettering potter entering at 12/1 to progress from this section, while Joe Perry (11/1) and Leeds cueist Oliver Lines (40/1) also feature.
O’Sullivan, Higgins and Allen in quarter 4
Five-time Crucible king O’Sullivan is 11/8 to secure quarter 4 supremacy and the 3/1 favourite for outright success in Scotland.
Although, the Rocket may not get it all his own way in this side of the draw, with in-form veteran Scot John Higgins also featuring (10/3) and Northern Irishman Mark Allen (13/2) aiming to prevail.
In what is an intriguing all-Scottish opening clash, Higgins takes on Alan McManus, with the latter being 13/5 to cause an upset, while Belgian talent Luca Brecel will look to get past Duane Jones first time out.
