Coral Rumour Reel: Schweinsteiger to Man Utd and Schneiderlin to stay?

Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger could be set for a sensational switch to Manchester United, an industry best-price 6/1 with Coral to win the Premier League next term, with the deal said to be nearing completion.

According to reports, the 30-year-old will pen a three-year deal worth £7.2m with the Red Devils paying £5.75m for his services.

This latest development could mean that the club could end their interest in Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, who, at the start of the summer was said to have a number of parties keen on signing him, though a move to Old Trafford is still a possibility, with the Saints previously rejecting a £20m bid claiming it was £5m lower than their valuation.

The Saints are also looking to be active themselves and after Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld opted to join Spurs, executive director Les Reed has said the club now have bids in for a number of players and were thought to have been tracking Angelo Ogbonna before he signed for West Ham.

Elsewhere, the Raheem Sterling situation is dragging on, with the club’s owners prepared to put him in the reserves if their valuation of the player isn’t met, with Manchester City said to be interested.

Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, has blasted his club’s lack of ambition in the transfer market, urging them to make more resources available in order for the Blues to be competitive in the window. So far, their only major signing is Radamel Falcao on loan.

North of London, Premier League new boys Watford have signaled their ambition, tracking Guangzhou Evergrande midfielder Alessandro Diamanti and Hamburg midfielder Valon Behrami, both of whom used to play for West Ham.

Arsene Wenger has said that he wants to assess the fitness of his squad before deciding whether to make another move in the transfer market, having just signed Petr Cech so far, which could mean goalkeeper David Ospina moves to Everton, with Colombian saying the Toffees are “a very competitive team”.
