Coral present game of the day: Treasure Island
Published:
Welcome back to our Game of the Day column, bringing you more of the latest and best slot games around! Up today is Treasure Island, an exciting video slot produced by Quickspin; a Microgaming subsidiary.
This game is based on the book Treasure Island, written by Robert Louis Stevenson in 1883. The original novel is a roaring tale of piracy, treasure, revenge and betrayal – and has become a timeless classic. Treasure Island Slots retells this classic tale in game format, with all its twists turns and characters transported on to a 5 reel, 40 payline slot.
To accommodate the unusually high number of win lines Treasure Island uses 4 horizontal rows of symbols, rather than the traditional 3. This not only makes for a different game experience but also help you rack up valuable bonus symbols which will aid you in the quest for plunder.
As for the slots characters, they are largely comprised of the good (or sometimes downright dirty and treacherous) crew of the ship Hispaniola – travelling from Bristol in search of long buried booty. The enigmatic Long John Silver makes an appearance, as does cabin boy Jim Hawkins along with half feral castaway Ben Gunn; abandoned on Treasure Island long ago. Each of these characters act as winning symbols, along with an alluring female pirate and standard “card” symbols scrawled on decaying parchment.
Lest we forget however, the aim of the game is treasure – and the island is bursting with it. Stacked treasure chest wilds can appear across any reels, compounding wins and making for some hefty prizes.
But now we get to the fun part – the range of bonus games which really make or break a slot’s gameplay experience. Luckily Treasure Island comes up trumps in this department; offering some top notch bonus features.
First up is the Pirate Attack game, achieved by simply landing two TNT Barrel “wilds” across the wheels. The reels will suddenly come under furious barrage, with “hit” symbols turning into wilds before the reels spin again, awarding some hefty prizes.
Should you survive that be on the look out for the compass bonus symbol. When 3 appear anywhere on reels 1,3 and 5 you’ve struck it rich – pick a compass to find free spins an instant win or a further round where you pick a treasure chest to see if you’ve scooped the top jackpot.
Historically themed games and adaptations of classic novels have long been a staple of slots; but manufacturers are slowly waking up to the fact their players want them done right. Treasure Island does exactly that, offering lovingly rendered characters, a salty sea dog soundtrack and enough exciting game-play to entice the great Mr. Stevenson himself.
On top of all that a very decent RTP of over 97% means Treasure Island provides very good value for money – your journey through this game won’t just be exciting; it might just be profitable too!
