The Premier League may only be six games old but already some unlikely stars have begun to emerge.
Huddersfield Town, Watford and West Bromwich Albion have all made impressive starts. But which of their players have been recognised here?
The Coral News Team take a look at some of the most unlikely talents making waves in the Premier League so far this season…
Christopher Schindler
Signed from 1860 Munich in 2016, Schindler has proved a pivotal member of the Huddersfield Town rearguard. The Terriers have only conceded three league goals so far this term. And that fabulous record has been in no small part down to Schindler.
For his impressive performances at centre-half, Schindler is now being touted as a future German international. That’s not bad going for a man who was signed for just £1.8m in July last year.
Pascal Gross
Since joining Brighton & Hove Albion from FC Ingolstadt in the summer, Gross has been a revelation. The 26-year-old German has bagged two goals already at the Amex Stadium. His impressive performances have caught the eye of the Coral News Team as well.
Although he has two strikes to his name, the former German Under-19 international has also chipped in with a pair of assists. The £2.25m capture is adept with both feet and looks a magnificent addition in the number 10 role. With Gross in their ranks, Brighton have every chance of avoiding the drop this season.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Three goals and two assists for a man who 18 months ago was on loan at Northampton Town is a more than fair return. Especially given that Calvert-Lewin has been forced to make do with cameo substitute appearances in a number of games so far this season.
Everybody knows that the 20-year-old striker has talent. He proved that by netting the winner in the Under-20 World Cup Final for England in the summer. But producing it on a consistent basis is the key for the youngster.
Everton already look a more fluid side with him in their ranks. If Ronald Koeman can squeeze that quality out of Calvert-Lewin on a regular basis, they could start to regret spending over the odds on a collection of attacking midfielders that they might not need.
Ahmed Hegazi
West Bromwich Albion’s Egyptian import has been fantastic thus far. The 26-year-old has yet to settle in any one country after bit-part spells in his homeland and in Italy. Under Tony Pulis though, the central-defender looks to have found an unlikely ally.
The pair both trade on a defensive style of play. And with that in mind, Hegazi has slotted perfectly into the Welshman’s system. He’s already nabbed a crucial goal against AFC Bournemouth. And he’s complimented that with two man-of-the-match performances as well.
Kiko Femenia
As is often the case with Watford’s foreign imports, Kiko Femenia has gone somewhat under the radar. The marauding right-back has displaced Daryl Janmaat to become the Hornets number one right-sided full-back.
Femenia’s performance at Swansea City last weekend further proved the point. The ex-Alaves man shone for the full 90 minutes as the Swans went down 2-1 on their home patch. In-fact, in the five games that the 26-year-old has started so far, Watford are yet to lose.
With a goal to his name already as well, the right-back is certainly one of the Hertfordshire side’s most underrated talents.
