Blakey the standout bet at Romford
A 12-race Open card takes centre stage on Racing Post Greyhound TV tonight (Sky 468, Freesat 250) and T6 Chopchop Blakey rates the standout bet in the 21:24.
Ernie Gaskin’s dog is thriving at present and comes into the contest on the back of three straight successes.
In each of those he has shown blistering early pace to lead all the way, producing a 3.68 sectional when landing an Open contest at the venue last week.
The son of Van Escalade is also four from 10 from the stripes, and looks perfectly poised as the sole wide side to ping out and exploit any crowding on the inside to land the four-timer.
Cecils Pride drawn to attack
In the 21:40, T4 Cecils Pride looks to have a dream draw and is strongly fancied to get back to winning ways.
The Jim Reynolds trained son if Kinloch Brae has settled in really well at the venue and his four runs in Opens have resulted in a win and three seconds.
Cecils Pride is blessed with early pace and with T3 Archive Policy sure to be heading for the rails as the lids rise, and two wide seeds on his outer, is going to get acres of room going into the bend.
That should enable him to turn in front, and if doing so he is going to be tough to pick up.
Hero poised to complete four-timer
Sneezys Hero is in the form of his life at present and looks to hold outstanding claims of landing the four-timer in the 21:56.
Phil Simmonds’ dog has won his last three starts by an average of just over five lengths, and is ultra-consistent at the traps.
His last three splits have been 3.61, 3.60 and 3.66 and those are the quickest in the line-up.
Sneezys Hero should easily clear those on his inside, and with T5 Marmalady better from the stripes can get on the bunny early doors for a trap to line success.
Nites value now clad in red
In the 10:11, T1 Blakefield Nites looks a bit of value to exploit what looks a potentially nice draw.
Paul Young’s dog has won four Opens at the venue and two of those have come from the red jacket.
He has some top class form to his name against the likes of the Evanta Fantasy and You’ll Never Listen, and should have far too much early pace for Traps 2 and 3.
That gives Blakefield Nites every chance of turning handy or even leading, and he is a tough sort to pass when in front.
