Coral presents its day one Cheltenham Festival 2025 tips piece ahead of March 11's races, with a 10/1-priced horse our pick for one of them.

Coral looks forward to the first day of the festival, now that the majority of the odds are locked in. In this piece we also preview the races and giving its tips for each.

We begin with a strong value pick for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, which opens this year's event.

Cheltenham Festival day one tips

Supreme Novices' Hurdle - 13:20

While Kopek Des Bordes is rightly the favourite in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, we're looking at an alternative for each-way value. That pick is Salvator Mundi who is available at 14/1.

The Willie Mullins-trained horse has steadily improved over the season and looks primed for a strong run here. With Cheltenham's notoriously challenging course often throwing up surprises, backing Salvator Mundi each-way offers great value.

Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices' Chase - 14:00

For the Arkle, we're steering clear of the favourite and backing Jango Baie at 6/1.

TheNicky Henderson trained horse has shown impressive form recently. While Majborough is the favourite, a horse on Henderson's roster looks set to provide serious competition and could edge this one.

Ultima Handicap Chase - 14:40

With a wide-open field, we're backing the favourite, Katate Dori, at 15/2 for the Ultima Handicap Chase.

Sam Thomas' runner has been strong in previous handicap contests and looks well-suited for Cheltenham's challenging conditions. Given the unpredictable nature of this race, Katate Dori represents solid value at those odds, or even for an each-way.

Mares' Hurdle - 15:20

The Mares' Hurdle looks set to be another Willie Mullins masterclass, so for a straight win punt, we're suggesting Lossiemouth as the odds-on favourite

She’s had a solid run of form in recent months and is the heavy front-runner for a reason.

Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy - 16:00

While Constitution Hill dominates the betting for the Champion Hurdle, we're picking State Man at 11/1 for an each-way. The Willie Mullins-trained horse has shown flashes of brilliance this season and could capitalise if the favourite's form slips again.

Juvenile Handicap Hurdle

In the Juvenile Handicap Hurdle, we like the look of the favourite Stencil at 10/3.

He’s been steadily improving throughout the season and comes into the race on the back of several impressive showings as the favourite. Backing him to win, even though he's the front-runner, looks a smart play.

National Hunt Challenge Cup

The closing race of the day sees us back Transmission at 4/1 to win the National Hunt. With strong stamina and excellent late-race acceleration, this horse could provide the perfect finish to day one of Cheltenham Festival 2025.
