Baring Bingham Novices’ Hurdle Race – 1:45pm

The first of six races on day two saw the Novices’ Hurdle won by the clear favourite Ballyburn (1/2), who was ridden by Paul Townend and trained by Willie Mullins.

Jimmy Du Seuil (66/1) finished in second, whilst Ile Atlantique (9/2) took the final podium spot, finishing the first race of the day in third place.

Brown Advisory Novices’ Steeple Chase – 2:30pm

The second race of the day was the Novices’ Steeple Chase, with Fact To File going in as the favourite at 8/13. Willie Mullins was hoping to go back-to-back after being the trained for the first race winner of the day, with this horse being ridden by Mark Walsh.

Mullins did make it two-for-two, with Fact To File taking first spot in his one. Monty’s Star (13/2) ended up coming in second.

Coral Cup Hurdle – 3:15pm

The main event for the day, the Coral Cup, was the third race taking place at 2:50pm. Built By Ballymore was the favourite at 4/1, whilst Sa Majeste and Langer Dan weren’t far behind at 5/1 and 13/2.

It was Langer Dan, trained by Dan Skelton and ridden by his son, Harry, who picked up the win in this one. Ballyadam (13/2) came in second, whilst Shanbally Kid (5/1) finished the race in third.

Betway Queen Mother Champion Steeple Chase (Grade 1) – 4pm

In a rather surprising turn of events, the Queen Mother Champion Steeple Chase was won by Captain Guinness (17/2), ridden by Rachael Blackmore and trained by Henry De Bromhead.

Heavy favourite El Fabiolo pulled out, while Gentleman De Mee (16/1) and Funambule Sivola (100/1) finished in second and third respectively,

Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Handicap Steeple Chase Challenge Cup – 4:50pm

The penultimate race of the day was won by Unexpected Party (12/1), ridden by Harry Skelton and trained by his father, Dan. Liberty Hunter, who went into the race at 6/1 managed to finish in second place.

It was Path D’oroux (10/1) who finished in third, beating the likes of Sa Fureur (4/1) and Saint Roi (13/2), both of whom were viewed beforehand as more likely to win.

 Weatherbys Champion Bumper – 5:30pm

Jasmin De Vaux won the final race of the day, the Champion Bumper, after going in at 9/2. Patrick Mullins was the jockey for this one, whilst Willie Mullins was responsible as the trainer for yet another winner here.

Romeo Collio (18/1) took second place, whilst Jalon D’oudairies (3/1), despite being the favourite going in, capped off the day by finishing the final race in third place.

ITV will broadcast the first five races of each day at Cheltenham Festival this year, with coverage kicking off at 1pm and finishing at 4:30pm. The final two races of each can then be watched on Racing TV.
