Cheltenham Festival one-two head Coral Welsh Grand National betting
Published:Midnight Prayer and Shotgun Paddy, the first two home in last season’s National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, head the sponsor’s betting for next month’s Coral Welsh Grand National at 8-1, in their opening show on the Chepstow showpiece. The Druids Nephew is next in the betting at 10-1, ahead of the 2012 winner Monbeg Dude, Sam Winner and The Young Master, all 12-1, while last year’s winner Mountainous is among those quoted at 14-1 by Coral, who have sponsored the race since 1973, making it one of the longest standing partnerships in sport.
“We’re delighted with the high class entry for this year’s Coral Welsh Grand National, a race that always features among the highest turnover races of the year, and are immensely proud of our ongoing association with this prestigious contest and Chepstow,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“As far as the early betting is concerned, Midnight Prayer and Shotgun Paddy proved their stamina and class when fighting out a thrilling finish to last season’s National Hunt Chase over four miles, and head the market as a result. The Druids Nephew, Sam Winner and The Young Master have all been in good recent form, while previous winners Monbeg Dude and Mountainous are also respected,” added Stevens.
