Chelsea’s Loic Remy attracting interest from Premier League trio

Chelsea striker Loic Remy could be on the move again this summer, following a season at the Blues where he failed to set the world alight.

Although he scored nine in 29 across all competitions, equating to nearly one in three games, Remy appears to have shown he can offer genuine competition to main man Diego Costa, or not enough compared to the amount on offer at Barcelona, who have Lionel Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez and Pedro competing for a place in the front three.

Therefore, it seems Chelsea, 6/4 with Coral to retain the Premier League, are preparing to reshuffle their striking department somewhat and with Didier Drogba moving onto pastures new, they could well cash in on the unconvincing Remy to make room for better quality.

It is expected that there will be plenty of suitors for the Frenchman, though, with Southampton, Crystal Palace and Swansea City likely to make bids. The former two have been linked to QPR’s Charlie Austin, but whichever club doesn’t secure his services will no doubt pursue Remy.

He would fit in well at Palace, due to his athleticism and pace with the Eagles basing their play around these attributes. Also, he would reunite with former boss Alan Pardew, who seemed to get the best out of the striker, while he was on loan at Newcastle United when he scored 14 goals in 27 appearances.

Remy is on £80k-a-week, however this doesn’t appear to have put any of his potential suitors off. Swansea could well make the strongest overtures for the striker, with Wilfried Bony having moved to Manchester City in January. The £28m fee they received would definitely help to pay Remy’s wages, with Chelsea likely to settle for a fee in the region of £7m-£10m for their player.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly tracking Radamel Falcao to offer both cover and competition for Costa, with the Colombian more likely to fit into Chelsea’s system than Manchester United’s where he spent last season on loan, while Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has also been linked.
