Chelsea in a cracker at Goodison

Blues face Toffees and goals look guaranteed

It promises to be a decisive weekend in the Premier League title race, with leaders Chelsea off to Goodison Park on Sunday, while Tottenham face Arsenal in a derby match later that afternoon. The outcome of both will have a massive say on where the league trophy ends up this year.

Chelsea remain on-course for the double, sitting four points clear at the top of the league and set to face Arsenal in the final of the FA Cup at Wembley, having knocked Spurs out last weekend. The Blues will be hoping rivals Arsenal do them a favour here though, and stick a pin in the chances of Tottenham.

Premier League weekend tips

Chelsea must focus on themselves

Manager Antonio Conte will know the best way to get across the line in front is to focus on themselves. The fate of the top prize lies in their hands, and if they win every match between now and the end of the season, they’ll be champions, with a bit to spare. Easier said than done though.

The Stamford Bridge side have lost two of their last five at this level, going down to Crystal Palace and Manchester United. They won’t welcome a trip to Goodison Park, especially with the locals pushing for a top-six finish. Everton have beaten Southampton, Man City, Sunderland, West Brom and Hull already this year at Goodison, all without conceding a goal. The Toffees adding Chelsea’s name to that hit-list is a 6/1 shot with us, in the win to nil market.

Chelsea beat Southampton 4-2 in the league on Tuesday at the bridge, Hazard, Cahill and a deadly double from Costa earning win number 25 of the season for their employers. That followed hot on the heels of their FA Cup semi-final triumph over Spurs by the same score, Willian hitting twice before goals from Hazard and Matic made sure of their progress.

Blues defence under pressure

This will be Chelsea’s seventh match this month, and it’s worth knowing that they have conceded two goals in each of their last three games, while both teams have scored in five of the previous six. Clicking yes in the both to find the net market again here will net followers 4/6.

The recent head-to-head stats promise an entertaining game, with goals sure to fly. Chelsea won 5-0 in the reverse of this fixture, and are favourites in the match betting market with Coral at even money. In the last six meetings between these sides, the leaders have scored an incredible 16 goals, conceding 11.

That’s an average of 4.5 goals per game from the last half-dozen meetings, and neutrals will be hoping this one keeps pace. Over 3.5 goals on the day looks worth a shot at 2/1 with Coral, while we’re giving 9/2 on a Chelsea win in a match with over 3.5 goals.
