2016 British Champions Day: Quiet Reflection can roar to Sprint success

It’s time for some more Quiet Reflection bets
Quiet Reflection can round off a terrific season with success in the Group 1 Champions Sprint; the second race of British Champions Day at Ascot (14:00).
The Ontoawinner syndicate owned filly is a four-time winner from her five starts this term. Her sole defeat of the campaign came when third to Limato in the Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket.
Quiet Reflection clearly found both the track and fast ground there unsuitable there, but two of her successes came in the elite Group 1 company she battles again.
Most notable of those is a course and distance win in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. She quickened smartly to land that Friday feature.
Awesome display at Haydock
Quiet Reflection also comes into the race at the top of her game, after landing the Sprint Cup at Haydock last month in impressive fashion.
Travelling powerfully throughout in the hands of regular rider Dougie Costello, the Karl Burke trained daughter of Showcasing showed her customary devastating turn of foot to quickly put the race to bed entering the final furlong. Quiet Reflection easily beat The Tin Man by 1 3/4 lengths.
It was an awesome performance which oozed class, and she seems to be improving with every run. Quiet Reflection handles cuts in the ground and won’t mind any more of the forecast rain if it arrives.
Shalaa feared most
Shalaa made an impressive winning return to action following a lengthy lay-off, so rates as the obvious danger. John Gosden’s colt was a top-class juvenile last season, winning five of his six starts.
The last two of those successes came in Group 1 company, with Shalaa beating Gutaifan by 1 3/4 lengths in Prix Morny at Deauville. He followed up with a stylish victory in the July Stakes at Newmarket.
Shalaa made all in the latter, quickening clear at halfway to readily beat Buratino with far more in hand than the winning margin of half-a-length suggests.
Sure to improve following comeback success
It was a most taking performance which marked out the son of Invincible Spirit as a potential superstar sprinter in the making.
That view was confirmed when Shalaa cosily won the Group 3 Bengough Stakes over course and distance earlier in the month following 371 days on the sidelines due to injury.
This three-year-old is entitled to come on significantly for that run, as Godsen said he was only 80 per cent fit going into the contest.
