Champions League storylines: Brilliant Bayern and Juve-Real rematch
Published:
UCL quarter-finals are here
The Champions League roars back into life this evening with two heavyweight clashes from the quarter-final stage.
Juventus host Real Madrid in a rerun of last year’s final, while Bayern Munich will be looking to assert their dominance away at Sevilla.
The Coral News Team have picked the bones out of both of tonight’s clashes with a pair of match previews…
Sevilla v Bayern Munich
There’s no stopping Bayern Munich at the moment.
The Bundesliga giants have won 18 of their last 20 matches. They dispatched Borussia Dortmund 6-0 at the weekend and have won their last six UCL matches in a row.
Unlike Manchester United in the last round, they’ll take the game to Sevilla in the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. The Spanish side have conceded at least two goals in three of their last four matches. That could mean more net-busting action this evening.
Die Roten’s seven Champions League games have all seen Over 2.5 Goals. It’s 8/13 for that scenario to occur again. You can get 5/4 on Bayern to Win and Over 2.5 Goals.
Robert Lewandowski has scored four goals in his last three European matches. He’s bagged two hat-tricks in his last four games, too. It’s 14/1 he nets another treble here, while 13/5 says that he Scores First.
Juventus v Real Madrid
This one should be a cracker.
Both sides are in tip-top form and have an enormous amount of European pedigree to call upon. There are old scores to be settled too, after Real dismantled Juventus 4-1 in last season’s UCL final.
Add it all up and you have all of the ingredients for a bona fide Champions League classic.
Real Madrid have the edge in the betting at 27/20, while Juventus are available at 21/10.
That could be to do with the way the Old Lady performed against Tottenham Hotspur in the last round. Despite taking a 2-0 lead against the North Londoners, Juve looked shaky when pressed and were eventually pegged back to 2-2.
Zinedine Zidane’s side will not afford their hosts the luxury of a two-goal start. And if there’s a weakness to be sniffed out, Los Blancos will find it.
They’ve won 10 of their last 11 matches, scoring 36 goals in the process. The way they breezed past Paris Saint-Germain should prove a warning to tonight’s hosts.
It’s 3/1 for Real to Win and Over 2.5 Goals. Cristiano Ronaldo has bagged 17 goals in his last eight matches. He’s also the Champions League’s top goalscorer with 12 strikes to his name so far this season.
You can back Both Teams to Score at 4/5.
