Celtic v RB Salzburg Betting Tips: Can Hoops secure qualification?

Odds and preview of Europa League clash

After back-to-back Europa League wins, a point or better will guarantee Celtic a spot in the knockout stages.

But they’ll have to do break the current run of Red Bull Salzburg, who boast a 100% winning record in the tournament so far.

You can catch the game on BT Sport 3 from 8:00pm tonight. And ahead of a crucial 90 minutes for the Hoops, we go in-depth on this Parkhead showdown.

Head-to-Head

These stats don’t make pleasant reading for fans of Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Salzburg have won two of the last three meetings, with the other ending in a draw. Most recently, the Austrian side came from 1-0 down to pull off a 3-1 win at Red Bull Arena in Gameweek 2.

Over history, Celtic’s record against Austrian sides is two wins, three draws and six defeats.

Likely XIs

The hosts have gone 4-3-2-1 throughout this European campaign. Odsonne Edouard is likely to lead the line, with a trio of Scott Sinclair, Tom Rogic and James Forrest behind him.

Salzburg have picked up a few key injuries since the reverse fixture, including the loss of Amadou Haidara. They’re likely to play a 4-4-2 diamond, with the prolific Munas Dabbur partnering Bosnian international Smail Prevljak up front.

Key Battles

Celtic are a nightmare to deal with out wide, and the absence of Haidara will make Forrest’s job on the right flank easier. If he can channel his recent fine form against veteran left-back Andreas Ulmer, Salzburg could find themselves in real trouble.

At the other end, the Hoops’ Croatian centre-back duo Filip Benkovic and Jozo Simunovic will have to deal with a truly top-class striker in Dabbur. He scored twice in the reverse, and his pace, tenacity and finish make him a nightmare for defenders.

Match Odds

In the Match Betting, Celtic at 31/20 are narrow favourites. Meanwhile, Die Roten Bullen are 8/5 for maximum points, with 23/10 about the Draw.

Each of the previous three head-to-heads have produced four or more goals, and another dose of Over 3.5 Goals is 21/10. Meanwhile, there’s 4/6 for Both Teams to Score.

Edouard leads the Anytime Goalscorer market for the Hoops at odds of 7/4. As for Forrest, he’s netted 10 times in his last 11 outings for club and country and is 3/1 to net again here.

For the visitors, the prolific Dabbur is 6/4 to register, while the Israeli ace is 11/2 to bag Two or More Goals.
