As Coral sponsor a couple of races this Bank Holiday Monday, our horse racing experts give their top Cartmel tips on the jumps action if you fancy a flutter.

Pair Of Jacks odds are ace at Cartmel

Pair Of Jacks scored in good style last time out, so can make light of a rise in the weights to follow-up in the Coral Bookmakers Cavendish Cup Handicap Chase on today’s card at Cartmel (16:05).

The eight-year-old was a dual winner last summer, looking as good as ever when beating Alderbrook Lad over course and distance last month.

After being held-up at the rear, the Malcolm Jefferson trained gelding made stealthy headway to challenge at the home turn before staying on strongly up the long run-in to score by a length.

Pair Of Jacks was well on top at the finish, winning with a bit more in hand than the winning margin suggests.

A 3lb rise for that success looks more than fair and the son of Presenting has a progressive profile, having won three of his nine starts over the larger obstacles. Pair of Jack odds and performances suggest he looks the type who may well have even more to offer.

Dauphine can deliver on UK debut

Dauphine Ereine makes her eagerly awaited UK debut in the 2m 5f handicap chase (16:40), and is tipped to make it a winning one.

This filly is unbeaten in three starts over fences in France and now makes her debut for trainer David Pipe in what looks a very winnable class 3 contest.

An opening handicap mark of 130 may seriously underestimate the four-year-old’s ability, and she is bred to do the job being a half-sister top the yard’s top class dual Grade 1 winner Dynaste.

Dauphine Ereine also remains totally unexposed and open to any amount of improvement, so potentially looks a cut-above her six rivals.

Ennistown can complete double for Pipe

Pipe and jockey Tom Scudamore look to hold leading claims of landing a quick-fire double on the Cartmel card courtesy of Ennistown in the Coral.co.uk Handicap Hurdle (17:10).

This gelding was a smart performer on the level, and then developed into a useful hurdler last season for trainer John Ferguson when winning twice.

Ennistown now has just his third start for Pipe, and shaped really well last time out when an eye-catching staying on 4 1/4 length third to Golden Doyen in a 2m 5f contest at Newton Abbot.

That run should have put the six-year-old spot on for this and the step up to 3m 1f looks sure to suit given how Ennistown finished off the race.
