Odds and preview for Carabao Cup tie

Burton Albion may be in the Carabao Cup semi-final, but they’ve got virtually no chance of making it to Wembley after losing 9-0 to Manchester City in the first leg.

After that mauling two weeks ago, it’s set to be a damage-limitation job for the hosts at the Pirelli Stadium tonight.

Will City completely outclass them again? Or can the League One side restore some pride? Before it gets underway on Sky Sports Football from 7:45pm, check out the key odds and info…

Head-to-Head

These sides had never faced each other before the first leg of this tie.

Burton have beaten Premier League opposition in Burnley to reach this stage, but the champions are a different proposition.

Their recent form doesn’t inspire much hope of a result on the night either. Nigel Clough’s side have only won one in six, while the visitors are on a six-game winning run.

Likely XIs

Burton will hope Pep Guardiola rests his stars, but the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez and Nicolas Otamendi are in line to start here. Benjamin Mendy could also make his first appearance since November from the bench.

The City boss is set to give valuable playing time to the likes of Phil Foden and Eric Garcia too.

Burton could be without Scott Fraser and Jamie Allen. Fraser picked up a knee injury at the weekend, while Allen has been playing with ankle pain lately. There’s no need for him to aggravate it here.

Key Battles

What sort of mindset will the Burton players be in? If City bag an early goal, they could have a case of déjà vu. And then it could get ugly for the home support.

The host’s best chance may be to try and unsettle an unfamiliar City backline. The likes of Foden, Garcia and Aro Muric in goal won’t have much experience of a proper physical battle. It’s worth seeing if they can stand up to it.

At the other end, Gabriel Jesus, Mahrez and Leroy Sane will be looking to bolster their goal returns.

Match Odds

Our traders are struggling to see anything but another City win here. The visitors are 2/13 favourites, with Burton way back at 16/1. There’s 15/2 about a draw on the night.

You can get 20/23 on City and Over 3.5 Goals, while they’re 1/2 to be leading at half-time and full-time.

After getting four goals in the first leg, Jesus is 3/1 to score first or 8/13 to net at any point. De Bruyne is 19/10 to grab a goal, with Foden 14/5 to add to his three cup goals this term.

Burton’s best hope likely lies with Liam Boyce, who’s 14/5 to score anytime. Lucas Akins is also 7/2 to get on the scoresheet.
