Bundesliga preview: Can Borussia Dortmund close gap ahead of Bayern Munich clash?

The title race could take an interesting twist this weekend

After a highly-anticipated return last weekend, the Bundesliga is back for another round of thrilling fixtures.

With just eight games left to play, the title race is hotting up as five teams could potentially still win it.

Bayern Munich lead the way but Borussia Dortmund are hot on their heels and the two German giants meet in what could prove to be a crucial game next week.

Ahead of that face-off, both sides will want to avoid slipping up this weekend and we’ve outlined three unmissable matches to look forward to.

Wolfsburg v Borussia Dortmund (Saturday, 14:30)

Dortmund came back with a bang last weekend as they swept aside rivals Schalke in a stunning 4-0 victory. They remain second in the table, four points behind Bayern, and they face a tricky test at sixth-placed Wolfsburg.

But they remain the pre-match favourites at 3/4, with the hosts the outsiders to win at 10/3. Dortmund’s odds to win the title have shortened slightly to 4/1 this week and they’ll have one eye on Tuesday’s clash with Bayern.

Despite the attacking threat of Erling Braut Haaland and Jadon Sancho, it was Raphael Guerreiro who stole the show with two goals against Schalke.

The Portuguese scored against Wolfsburg in November and he’s priced at 28/1 to bag another brace, while Wolfsburg’s leading marksman Wout Weghorst is 5/1 to open the scoring.

Bayern Munich v Eintracht Frankfurt (Saturday, 17:30)

Bayern are the clear favourites to win their eighth consecutive title at 1/5 and our traders reckon they’ll continue their good form here. The league leaders are currently 1/7 to beat Frankfurt, who are going at 16/1, while the draw is 7s.

Frankfurt have struggled for form since beating Bayern 5-1 in November and they’ll be nervously looking over their shoulder at the relegation spots.

There aren’t many scarier opponents in Europe than Robert Lewandowski and the Poland international made a goalscoring return in last weekend’s 2-0 win at Union Berlin to take his tally for the season to 40 in all competitions.

Lewandowski is just 3/10 to score anytime or he’s 9/2 to score a hat-trick.

Borussia Monchengladbach v Bayer Leverkusen (Saturday, 14:30)

Monchengladbach remain just six points off top and they are dreaming of lifting the trophy for the first time since 1977. They’re still 50/1 to finish top but a strong end to the campaign could guide them to glory.

Next up in their way are Leverkusen and the hosts are the slight favourites at 27/20. The visitors are going at 7/4 while the draw is 13/5.

Monchengladbach enjoyed a 3-1 win at Frankfurt last weekend, while Leverkusen thrashed Werder Bremen 4-1 thanks to a brace from Kai Havertz.

The German youngster has scored four goals in his last five games and Havertz to score first but Monchengladbach to win is priced at 28/1.
