Borussia Dortmund v Tottenham Betting Tips: Do Spurs get the job done tonight?
Published:Betting preview and odds for Champions League clash
Tottenham Hotspur travel to Signal Iduna Park with a three-goal lead to protect tonight.
Borussia Dortmund were blown away at Wembley three weeks ago.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men know a first win in three games would see them sail into the last-eight. But after stumbling in the league recently, Dortmund will be determined to show how good they are.
Check out how the action unfolds from 8pm on BT Sport 2, but first stick around for our run through of the big match.
Head-to-Head
Spurs’ 3-0 win has the North Londoners in control of this tie, but it’s been a different story in recent years.
The pair’s first meeting was a Europa League double header in 2016. BVB came through that 5-1 on aggregate.
But the Lilywhites have won the last three clashes between the two sides and are favourites to qualify tonight.
Likely XIs
The home side will be without veteran full-back Lukasz Piszczek through injury and could also leave Christian Pulisic out with a muscle problem.
Pushing Rafael Guerreiro into an advanced position has been inspired by Lucien Favre. Guerreiro should play alongside an attacking trio Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus and Mario Gotze.
Die Borussen will be buoyed by the return of Manuel Akanji at the back.
As for Spurs, with Dele Alli still missing, we could see Pochettino persist with a 3-5-2 formation.
Victor Wanyama looked rusty against Arsenal, but may keep his place with Harry Winks and Eric Dier on the sidelines.
Key Battles
Dortmund sorely missed Akanji’s athleticism in the first-leg, but they will need him to be at full tilt tonight.
He’ll will be up against Harry Kane, who has notched four goals in six Champions League matches so far.
The home side know they cannot concede an away goal here and if Akanji can stifle Kane, it’ll go a long way to deciding this match.
Favre will hope Sancho and Reus can find their Midas touch, if the pair get a head of steam then it could be a sticky night for Spurs.
Match Odds
Tottenham’s convincing win at Wembley means they are just 1/25 to qualify. To win in Dortmund for a second-successive time is 27/20 too.
But this is the first time in the Champions League era that Spurs have been leading a knock-out tie at the half-way stage.
Dortmund will go out all guns blazing and are 9/1 to progress to the quarter-finals. BVB to win and both teams to score is now 5/2.
Reus is back and he’s 7/5 to notch anytime. He may well line up alongside Sancho who’s 15/8 to score too.
Kane to open the scoring is 4/1 with Fernando Llorente an anytime scorer at 2/1.
