Bookmaker Coral opens up betting on 2016 news specials

Leading bookmaker Coral has issued a number of news specials for 2016 ahead of the New Year. These include various categories including politics, royal specials, music and weather.

With Kate and William having their second baby in 2015, royal betting was very popular over the last 12 months. Ahead of the New Year, Coral is quoting 2-1 for the couple to announce they are expecting another baby in 2016. The Queen is 6-1 to abdicate and Prince Harry is 16-1 to get married.

In their politics specials, Coral is offering 5-4 that Jeremy Corbyn will be replaced as Labour leader in 2016, 10-1 for David Cameron to be replaced as Conservative leader, while it is 25-1 for there to be a General Election next year.

“With a royal baby, general election and extreme weather conditions over the past 12 months, we have never seen as much interest in our news and novelty markets than that we saw in 2015,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“Punters are already placing bets on what they think will happen in 2016 and the early money suggests Jeremy Corbyn could be under a tough year to remain as Labour leader, Kate and William may announce they are having another baby and the weather odds indicate we may be in for the hottest year on record in the UK,” added Hill.
