Elliott’s star holds on to win in photo-finish
Britain’s bookies were left counting the cost of Tiger Roll’s dramatic victory in this afternoon’s Grand National.
The industry is facing a multi-million-pound hammering after the extremely popular 10/1 shot held on to win the famous Aintree showpiece by the smallest of margins.
“Tiger Roll was one of the most popular selections throughout the busiest and biggest betting day of the year.
“And his many backers were counting their money when he jumped the last, so well was he travelling,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“However, we were given hope when Pleasant Company fought back on the run to the finish line, but it wasn’t to be. And in one of the closest National finishes ever, it was the punters who came out on top, sparking a multi-million-pound payout,” added Stevens.
