Coral ambassador Joe Tizzard looks ahead to day two of the Cheltenham Festival and why he thinks Fiddlerontheroof could be overpriced.

Cheltenham 13:55 – Fiddlerontheroof & The Big Breakaway

We were delighted with Eldorado Allen’s second place in the Arkle, Harry Cobden gave him a lovely patient ride and while we were never going to beat Shishkin, he picked up the pieces from the rest and landed some decent prize money.

Both of our Wednesday runners go in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase.  Fiddlerontheroof and The Big Breakaway are both rated 148, but there’s quite a big difference in their odds.

I think Fiddler is overpriced, he’s been so consistent this season, and although he’s finished second four times on the trot, he’s come up against some decent horses, including Next Destination at Warwick last time.

The Big Breakaway is a year younger so possibly has a little bit more scope for improvement.  He ran a lovely race to finish second in the Kauto Star on Boxing Day, he’s a Cheltenham winner, and Monkfish looks sure to go a nice gallop which will give our fellow something to aim at.

The favourite [Monkfish] is clearly the one to beat, I was surprised there are only six runners and that could make it a tactical affair, but Monkfish likes to bowl along, and that should mean our two can slot in behind the leader, and Robbie [Power] and Harry [Cobden] can suss things out as they go.

Cheltenham 15:05 – Queen Mother Champion Chase

Chacun Pour Soi is another Willie Mullins-trained, Rich Ricci-owned odds-on favourite, and I think the market is probably right.

He’s a horse I love watching, he seems to be very uncomplicated and looks to be getting better with every run, so I think he’ll take a lot of beating.

It wouldn’t bother me that he’s never run at Cheltenham, if he was a novice it might but his jumping looks so good, I can’t see it being an issue.
