13.05 Wincanton – Earth Business & Whydah Gally

Earth Business ran really nicely in a Bumper finishing third around Wincanton. The form’s working out well. He’s a lovely horse. It’s his first time over hurdles but he goes there with a chance. We’re not worried about him losing his maiden tag as there’s plenty of season left and he can go into the spring. He’s a nice horse with plenty of ability.

Whydah Gally has had one run. He’ll probably want further in time but for the moment he’ll stay over two miles. It’s all part of his learning experience and he’s probably a horse that wants to get a handicap mark.

13.38 Wincanton – Earl Of Wisdom

He’s been very backward, very green. He actually shows more at home than he’s shown on the track. So this is his next step. He was disappointing at Taunton last time, but one more run and he gets a handicap mark, and then we’ll be away.

Adam Wedge has ridden for us a few times. He rode for us in the Ladbrokes Trophy one year. There are three meetings so we’ve looked to book the best available so Adam has picked up a couple, and we’re using Aidan in the first and Harry Kimber has three rides.

15.58 Wincanton – Buckhorn George

He ran really well over course and distance last time, and the winner has come out again and won since in a Pertemps Qualifier. He handles the conditions. He’s got to have a great each-way chance.

16.33 Wincanton – Royal Vacation & Sizing At Midnight

Royal Vacation is getting on a bit. We had him in a veteran’s race that was called off last week. On his day he is a Grade 1 winner. He won a Kauto Star albeit he got a bit lucky but he won it. He seems in good nick at home, and he’s got plenty of ability on his day.

Sizing At Midnight fell when he looked like he was going to win The Badger Bere last time. He hurt his back a bit that day, but he’s fine now. I’m a little bit concerned that it might be soft enough ground for him. But he’s ready to run so we thought this would be a nice place to start back. He has an entry in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham so if we left it any later we were going to run out of time. There aren’t many runners and he’s well enough handicapped.

16.45 Ascot – So Said I

She ran really nicely at Wincanton a couple of weeks ago and I think it’s brought her on a little bit. This looks a hotter race. She’s a nice filly and she’ll go hurdling after this. She’s bred by my Uncle and she has a nice page. If she’s improved on her third at Ascot she would have an each way chance.
