Coral ambassador previews his rides at Goodwood on Friday

Jim rides Margaret Dumont in the 13:50 at Goodwood

I finished second on Margaret Dumont at Newbury two starts ago. She then went to Newbury and finished down the field, but I think the firm ground was against her there, so a bit of ease here should suit.

She’s by Camelot so she stays well, and she’s off a nice low weight here so I think she has a good each-way chance.

Jim rides Baaeed in the 14:25 at Goodwood

One of my best chances of the week, Baaeed made it three wins from three at Newmarket last time, and he gave me a lovely feel in doing so.

He’s a progressive, exciting horse, who shouldn’t mind this ground, he just wouldn’t want it too testing. This is the next step up for him, and I think El Drama is the main danger, as he wasn’t beaten all that far when last of the four who ran in the Coral-Eclipse.

We might need some luck in running, as so often at Goodwood, as we’re drawn on the inside, but I hope he’s good enough to take this.

Jim rides Maydanny in the 15:00 at Goodwood

Maydanny was a non-runner earlier in the week because of the soft ground, so hopefully the course will miss any further rain.

This mile trip suits him, and we’re drawn well in five, and although this is as competitive a race as you’d expect, if my fellow lines up he must have a great chance, but it is weather dependent.

Jim rides Battaash in the 15:35 at Goodwood

The big one of the week. I’ve been looking forward to this ever since the King’s Stand at the Royal meeting.

He just got a bit tired that day, he was a bit fresh, we sat close to a strong pace, and we just didn’t quite get home.

He obviously loves Goodwood, and this race, having won it for the last four years, but I do think this is the strongest field he’s faced in this race, and he would prefer proper top of the ground, so we definitely don’t want any more rain for him.

Dragon Symbol is a proper Group One horse, who was unlucky to lose the Commonwealth Cup, and then ran second in the July Cup.

The fourth home that day, Art Power, is another with a big chance, and this slower ground will blunt my fellow’s speed, as he is a proper five-furlong horse, and they get further.

It won’t be easy, but at his best we know how good Battaash is, and it would be magical to win the race for a fifth time.

Jim rides Jadhlaan in the 16:45 at Goodwood

Jadhlaan was stepped up into Group company last time, having won his novice stakes well at York, but he was a little bit disappointing at Newmarket, so this drop back in grade should help him.

Much like the other rides today, he wouldn’t want any more rain. That really is the theme of my day! If it stays away, I hope he can get back on track here.
