Jim Crowley: “Danyah has a very big chance”
Coral ambassador previews his Sunday rides at Newbury
Newbury 13.50 – Light Up Our Stars
It was well beaten last time at Newmarket on Good to Firm but has bits of pieces of form. It will have to take a step forward off his last few runs. I’ve ridden a few winners for Tony Carroll. He’s a nice guy that works hard.
Newbury 14.25 – Danyah
He is a really nice horse that I like a lot. He won first time up at Nottingham, and absolutely hosed up on soft ground. He disappointed a little bit after that. He’s a really smart horse and won last time out at Doncaster. He’s got a very big chance.
My old friend Zhui Feng runs here as well. He ran well last time at Goodwood. He’s coming down the weights.
Newbury 15.00 – Baasem
He won well up at Doncaster last term and the handicapper put him up 12lbs. He struggled a bit off that mark. He has been running okay and handles soft ground. I’m sure he can take a step forward and he will have a chance in what is a competitive race.
Newbury 16.40 – Mashhoor
Mashhoor has a nice pedigree being by Kingman. He has been going nicely and should run a decent race.
Our other horse Aljaryaal is also nicely bred by Siyouni. At the end of the day it’s a maiden so I don’t really mind if I get it wrong. I’m hoping they both run well.
Newbury 17.10 – Tasfeeq
I rode him at Goodwood and we thought he’d run a big race that day. He did run okay but was stuck on the wing of the field which is very difficult at Goodwood. I expect him to take a big step forward from that run.
Newbury 17.40 – Daysan
I don’t know too much about this horse. I rode him at home early on but this is his first start so we will find out more about him.
