Coral ambassador looks back on last week and previews Friday’s rides

I was disappointed with Al Aasy and Fayleq last weekend, but Fayleq ran too keen and we are going to drop back in trip so I’m not too worried about him.

On the flip side Tinto won well and we nicked a win on Silent Echo on the Friday and then Montatham won well on the Saturday and he could go for Royal Ascot. The midweek has gone well with a few winners. I rode a lovely filly to win called Virgin Snow, out of Snow Fairy, at Haydock and she’s one to keep an eye on.

Friday’s Newbury rides

16.55 – Transition

He has won twice on the all weather. He’s having his first run on grass. Hopefully he’ll take to the grass. It looks a tough race but he’s been working well at home. We are hopeful of a good run and he has an each-way chance.

18.25 – Restorer

He’s been off a long time and his mark is down to 88. He runs well fresh and it’s a case of the softer the ground the better for him. He’s not without a chance and represents good each-way value.

19.00 – Qaader

He’s well-bred by Night of Thunder and Mark Johnston’s two-year-olds have been running really well.  I haven’t ridden him in work but hopefully he’ll be good enough to win.

20.00 – Jaaizah

She’s having her first run and has a nice pedigree. I haven’t ridden her at work, but I’m hopeful that she’ll run a nice race. Newbury is such a nice track to start horses off.

20.30 – Al Madhar

I’ve ridden work on this fella, and I was very impressed by him. I think this trip will be perfect for him. His Newmarket run has worked out really well and we like him a lot. He’s out of a Galileo mare so he should stay well. His work has been good and I’m looking forward to riding him. He’d be my standout ride on the night.

21.00 – Cozone

He had the one run last year and has had a wind op since then. So it’s the first run back since the op and they often run well. He has a really nice pedigree and hopefully he’ll run a good race.
