The Coral News Team previews this Champions League second round qualifying match with a Big Match Breakdown.
Head-to-head
The pair met in the third qualifying round of the same competition last year. Rosenborg came away with a 0-0 draw from Celtic Park.
But a James Forrest second-half strike downed the Norwegians and sent the Hoops to the group-stages.
Before then the old foes met in the Champions League proper in 2001. Alan Thompson notched a free-kick in a 1-0 victory in Glasgow.
Rosenborg got their revenge, winning 2-0 at home with former Celtic man Harald Brattbakk scoring both goals.
Likely XIs
Odsonne Edouard will surely lead the line for Celtic after his brace in the first leg. The former Paris Saint-Germain forward took his chance after Moussa Dembele got injured in the previous round.
They will be without defender Jozo Simunovic after his suspension was extended to two games by UEFA. This means Kristoffer Ajer will again be partnered by Jack Hendry at the heart of the defence.
Niklas Bendtner looks likely to lead the line again for Troillongan. The former Arsenal man could be joined by Paal Andre Helland up top.
Defender Birger Meling should keep his place after notching Rosenborg’s opening goal.
Key Battles
After a slow start Celtic controlled the majority of the game.
Rosenborg’s interim manager said the Scottish champions could have scored more than three goals in the end.
However, Celtic will have to be on their mettle as their opponents showed that they can capitalise on any mistake.
The enigmatic Niklas Bendtner will have to be marshalled. But Celtic’s front three of Scott Sinclair, Forrest and Edouard could run riot.
Match Odds
A 2-0 for Rosenborg is at 14/1 and would be enough for them to advance.
An outright win for the Norwegians is at 2/1 whilst Celtic are 13/10 to travel back to Glasgow with the victory.
The draw at 9/4 would also see Celtic through.
Edouard to notch and the Hoops to win is 11/4. Sinclair could be vital in this game and he’s 21/10 to score any time.
Bendtner to grab a goal any time is 6/4. Meling to score again is 11/1 any time.
