Bees braced for Clarets clash

Brentford have the worst defence in the current Championship top half, so the division’s leading scorers Burnley look like being worth a wager to follow up some emphatic recent wins with an away day delight.

Coral make Sean Dyche’s Turf Moor team a nifty 19/10 to win on their travels as the Clarets come to the capital. As the Bees are yet to taste victory in 2016 so far, an 29/20 favourites price is hard to justify, while a draw is a 9/4 chance.

Dean Smith has made an average start to life as Brentford boss, winning three of nine matches in charge. It is difficult to see him improving on that because Burnley have been brilliant in attack of late.

Gray goals behind Burnley’s bid to go up

In three of their last five league outings, the Clarets have scored four or more, and that includes putting five past MK Dons last time out in midweek.

Total Burnley goals being over 2.5 again at 13/2 must thus be considered, especially against a Bees team that has kept one clean sheet since the start of December.

Andre Gray is the man behind the glut of goals being scored by Dyche’s team, and he has a seasonal tally of 16, including two scored for Brentford before moving up to Turf Moor.

Odds of 6/4 say leading Championship marksman Gray can strike again anytime, but he is better at 9/2 to grab the opener. Beyond goal-machine Gray, there aren’t really any other consistent Clarets threats to concern the home team.

Wales international target man Sam Vokes is a proven performer at this level too, though. In the shade behind Gray, punters should not forget about his qualities and anytime odds of 7/4.

Don’t Judge Bees too harshly

Although Brentford have been under-par lately, they do still possess Irish attacking midfielder Alan Judge, whose conversion from winger to number 10 has yielded 10 goals to go with a steady supply of assists which he produced last term.

At 7/4 in the anytime market, Judge is well worth a punt to add to his haul here, while Denmark international Lasse Vibe is shorter at 6/4.
