Betting without Man City: Arsenal lead alternative market
Published:
With Manchester City already as short as 1/2 to win the Premier League this season, many punters have turned their attention to the betting without Man City market.
The defending champions are seeking a record-breaking fourth successive title and have made an ominous start with three straight wins seeing them open up a two-point gap at the summit.
Coral already have betting without Man City odds and Arsenal are the 15/8 favourites, having pushed City close for most of last season before falling away in the closing stages of the campaign.
The Gunners made a promising start with two wins but dropped points for the first time at the weekend when they conceded a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw with 10-man Fulham.
Liverpool joined Arsenal on seven points when they overcame a red card for Virgil van Dijk to come from behind and beat Newcastle 2-1, a result which manager Jurgen Klopp hailed as “rare and super special”.
Two goals from substitute Darwin Nunez secured a confidence-boosting result for the Reds, who struggled on their travels last season, and they are now 2/1 in the betting without Man City while Newcastle are out to 7/1 after their second defeat of the campaign.
Coral’s Lewis Knowles said: “Following Liverpool’s dramatic victory at St James’ Park this weekend, we did see some support for Jurgen Klopp’s team in the outright Premier League market as well as the betting without Manchester City.
“Arsenal do have a tough run of fixtures coming up but I’d still expect them to be City’s chief rivals in the title race and the 15/8 might represent some value.”
Chelsea are also 7/1 after another busy summer in the transfer market and the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino, who is expected to deliver a much-needed improvement after last season’s bottom-half finish.
The Blues claimed their first win of the campaign with a 3-0 victory over Luton on Friday and will hope two-goal Raheem Sterling can continue his promising start to the Pochettino era.
Manchester United have six points from three games after coming from 2-0 down after four minutes to beat Nottingham Forest and are also 7/1 in this market while Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham look the dark horses at 12/1.
Spurs are one of four teams on seven points after back-to-back 2-0 wins and face two of the promoted teams next so will be hopeful of continuing their fine start before facing Arsenal and Liverpool later in September.
