Bet of the day: Wednesday’s Racing
Published:We go in early at Wolves
Wednesday’s horse racing schedule gives punters a full plate, with afternoon meetings planned at Newcastle, Towcester and Wolverhampton, while those looking for an interest after dark can get involved in the evening racing at Kempton.
You can place your bets on every race here at Coral, and we have trawled through the form and figures to offer up our views on a handy NAP, as well as a next best. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you’ll find a selection in every race at Wolverhampton, for those looking to boost up their multiple bets.
NAP to go down a storm
We are off to a flyer, with our best bet of the day lining up in the opener at Wolves, a one-mile five-furlong apprentice handicap due to post at 2.00pm. Of the nine-runners expected to make the trip, Chestnut Storm is a strong winner of the day for me.
This progressive four-year-old filly boasts just one career win from a dozen attempts, with the spare coming at Yarmouth late last year, but she has been knocking on the door again and now that they have the winning feeling, she has more than enough to go back in.
Runner-up at Southwell on her penultimate start, that was over two-miles and I think connections will see the best of her now dropped back down in trip. Her win came over one-mile three-furlongs, and the two-miles didn’t appear to be doing her many favours.
Since joining Briar Barr three races ago, Chestnut Storm has handled herself with credit and, against what looks to be a very ordinary list of opponents here, I can see her getting the win connections know she is capable of. Her price shouldn’t be too bad either.
Boleh worth a bet
Looking for a double on the day, we side with a play on Malaysian Boleh in the 4.00pm seven-furlong selling stakes.
The previous course and distance winner hasn’t scored for a while now but the seven-year-old has been doing everything right, finishing as runner-up in each of his last two starts, and placing in four of his last five.
Brian Ellison’s rep was beaten just a neck by Black Caesar last time and a similar showing would see him improve a place to land the prize money.
