A play in every race at Catterick
Halfway point of the week and there has not been an awful lot for followers of our NAPs to shout about so far, but that’s the way it goes. The beauty of horse racing betting is, win or lose, we wipe the slate clean every morning. So, with that in mind, we move onto Wednesday.
Six meetings are evenly split between afternoon and evening, with Catterick, Lingfield and Uttoxeter sorted out before we move on to Sandown, Yarmouth and Killarney. NAP won with plenty to spare last time
We get started with a fillies’ novice stakes at 2.05pm, and Reflect Alexander shapes as the play there. In fact, we make the favourite in each of the first three races worth a go, including Three Duchesses in the 3.15pm fillies’ handicap.
One mile four furlongs lies in front of this nine-runner field, and there isn’t too much to get excited about here, but Three Duchesses does look to be the best of them. Michael Bell’s three-year-old got her second career win last time, and in fine style too, scoring a week ago at Yarmouth by a full six lengths. Doing the business off a decent SP that day, she had Ode To Glory trailing home behind, race favourite Millie’s Kiss back in third.
Attracting bits of early support
That was run over 1m 2f, but there was obviously plenty there to suggest the further trip would be no problem. She had fitness and confidence to spare seven days ago. We must admit that improvement caught us all a little off-guard, but it was impressive stuff, and with it behind her, we’re not going to oppose in a hurry.
The fact connections have her out again so quickly is a real positive, as it’s obvious they want to capitalise on her mood at the minute. Still looks a touch ahead of the handicapper, and has already attracted bits of support in the market, opening at 6/4 and being nibbled in to 11/8.
