Tribal Conquest taken to score
Elysee Star is picked to get us off to a strong star in the opener, but we’re little more than spectators until the second last, a seven-runner maiden stakes decided over the seven furlongs trip. They’re called to post at 5.00pm, and Tribal Conquest is a strong pick. Connections invested a great deal of money in our tip, and we’re confident he’ll deliver in his second start.
Debuting around here in May, Tribal Conquest finished runner-up behind Afaak, well beaten on that occasion, 2 ½ lengths the recorded distance. The promising three-year-old took his time to get started, but once settled, was an eye-catcher at the business end of the race. The NAP led going for home before being picked up at the finish, but there was a lot to like.
Appleby deserves our respect
That effort came over course and distance, and we expect to see him come on for it. With that introduction to the game under his belt, he’ll get down to it a lot sooner, and we really do expect him to go and take this by the scruff of the neck. Tribal Conquest is easy enough to like, but he faces little in terms of real competition here, and that’s why he’s our strongest bet.
The Charlie Appleby yard always merits our respect, and followers of the stats know he has an impressive record of getting the desired result with horses running over 7f. The selection rates as the best horse of the field on paper, and we’re hoping he goes and proves it.
