Targeting a winner at Carlisle
Seven races go on the turf of Carlisle on Wednesday, with the early going described as good. It promises to be an entertaining day, headlined by the Eternal Stakes, where a bumper prize has attracted a talented field.

Ascot win puts NAP ahead of the field
There’s a lot to like here, but after running through the form, we’ve settled on Bletchley in the bill-topper. 11 runners are expected for the Eternal Stakes, a fillies’ listed race run over six furlongs, with an 11-runner field expected at 4.00pm. A good case could be made for a few of these, but we’re pinning our hopes on Ralph Beckett’s rep.
The eye-catching three-year-old filly made a fantastic start, winning on debut at Nottingham last summer before finishing an impressive runner-up in the Albany Stakes at Ascot next time out in group three company. She hasn’t quite lived up to expectations since, but we’re not in a rush to turn our back on her, and it looks more a case of waiting for the right time to back Bletchley.
Bletchley to build on last time out win
Arrives at course on the back of a win around Leicester, an effort which proved the quality is still there. That was over 7f, but the drop back doesn’t put us off. Her Albany run is the best form in this race, by some distance, and she won’t face anything in terms of competition here that’ll cause connections to lose any sleep.
A talented filly, the best of the list on paper, and one arriving on the back of a morale-boosting win, it’s difficult to go against Bletchley, so we’re not going to. Oisin Murphy goes in the saddle, another plus point. Take the 2/1 currently being offered by Coral.
