Bet of the day: Tuesday’s racing

Our ace play goes at Redcar

Tuesday’ UK and Irish horse racing schedule is made up of meetings at Leicester, Lingfield, Newton Abbot, Redcar, Wolverhampton and Ballinrobe as the busy start to the week continues. As always, Coral have all the betting on the day. Click here to make your opinions count – winners at the touch of a button.

Focussing on matters in North Yorkshire, we give our best bet of Tuesday in Redcar’s seven-race meet, while those with an eye on a multiple can follow our popular race-by-race selections towards the foot of this page. Pick and choose your favourites, playing small stakes for big wins.

Near Kettering to do the business

3.30pm gives us a competitive looking maiden stakes, settled over 1m 2f. Six runners have been printed in the programme, and of the expected field we have Near Kettering picked as the most likely winner. The three-year-old colt arrives at course with just one previous run on his CV, finishing fourth in that introduction to Windsor.

Not inspiring stuff, certainly on paper anyway, but there’s plenty to like about the Luca Cumani rep. Connections are hopeful he will come on for the experience, and there was certainly enough, when reading between the lines, to suggest that’ll be the case.

Spencer knows what’s required

Jockey Jamie Spencer takes the ride, which is sure to hold plenty of weight with punters in the run-up to the off. He was in the saddle on debut, which can only be a good thing, meaning the Irishman will know exactly what is required of him here. He’s as experienced as they come, and the booking should make all the difference in a race of this nature.

Traders seem to be working off the same page, and we should see Just Kettering go as race favourite, 6/4 the current call. Not a lot leaps out at us in terms of a main danger, but we’ll have to see a real improvement on last time. The longer trip and ground should play to his advantage and we’re happy to take a shot.
